Personally, I find it a lot of fun to just mess around with shaders and stuff, to see how I can get things to come out the way I want. I really hate actually hand-painting textures, because it's a real pain in the butt. I like to think that the models should stand for themselves, and not have to rely on much more than a basic color texture (although somtimes, you kind of have to bite the bullet for more complicated textures).
I guess this is one reason I enjoy object modeling more than organic stuff. Organics is a real pain in the ass.
Anyhow, odds are pretty good that in the coming weeks, I'll be throwing up more WIPs of all my scenes as I progress towards completion. I have four environments for this project: a seaside shrine, a makeshift field hospital, the interior of a futuristic transport train, and a small lakeside shanty.
The lakeside one is probably the hardest of the bunch, because I am just now discovering how much of a pain grass is to do in Maya. Finding ways around that is proving to be quite interesting, to say the least.
I'm probably going to be changing up my icon soonish, as I'll be moving towards working on my new personal logo. Here's hoping it comes out okay!
